In this article I´d like to talk about some aspects where many poker players can save a significant amount of money without great effort. The “without great effort” part is very important and also the “significant”. I´m not going to give you tips on how to save $0.75 when shopping or how to use the latest offer at Walmart to get a 1% discount. I respect your time (and my own 8) ) too much to throw out coupon tips.

Setting up a system that is flexible

By not having an organized and easy financial system, many people lose a lot of money. They don’t recognize it. They lose it in many ways. I assume the “outside of the table stuff” can up the poker winrate of the average midstakes grinder around 1BB. This is a random estimate, but I´ll hopefully be able to show you soon, how much time and money you can save by having some things planned, instead of thinking only short term. Oh, and needless to say, I am not even talking about changing things in your life or anything in that direction. This article is basically about doing things in a smart(er) and more efficient way for doing things that you have to do ANYWAYS. And in the end, the result should be more freedom, not less. Flexibility is key.

In many forums you can find countless threads about “which training site should I join?” Forums have been a very helpful tool in the beginning, especially the 2+2 forums for me. Today I do not see great value in them in regards to poker strategy. They still have their social value, news & updates etc . There are also great forums for travelling, meeting up with fellow players. Really awesome stuff.

Anyways, there used to be only a few training sites out there and now every player owns one ;). Let me give you a few guidelines and recommendations that I found helpful in the post How to pick a coaching site .

I vividly remember “back in the days”, when two friends and I went on a trip to Rome. First of all, after to Vienna, Rome is still the second most beautiful city I have ever been to. I´m talking from an architectural and aesthetic point of view. If you love buildings and have some sense of romance, this is a place to go. Forget Paris. You will probably like Paris, too, if we have similar taste. I like Paris a lot, but for different reasons. But it’s a big secret to me why Paris is the “city of love” and why every couple dreams of getting engaged there. Have no freakin clue. It’s one of those “everybody says it, must be true”. 1 Million ants can´t be wrong, crap tastes good!

Rome has a plethora of old fountains, antique monuments (and whatever is left), the Vatican. Going out on a warm summer night…sitting at Spanish steps, drinking wine and see vendors selling flowers on the streets.

Most people would also agree that the Italian women are among the hottest. Needless to say, its not a big secret that if you want your wife/girlfriend to cheat on you, just send them a week to Italy. Enough fluff for today.

Finding the right affiliate is very important. It will save you lots of time, money and hassle. After that,  I’ll also cover the topic of affiliating with friends and which guidelines I have found to be very important.

How poker affiliates work:

Affiliates are basically hookers 8) . They hook you up with a poker site and receive a commission from the site. They might pass some of it on in the form of rakeback, boni, rake races or some other promotion.

Why you should love and hate poker affiliates at the same time:

From a players perspective, in general, affiliates seem at first glance to be your natural enemy. They pass on deals from a poker site and keep money for themselves that you could have gotten, if there was no intermediary (simplified theory, of course it doesn’t work exactly this way).
